About Craiton

Hi There!

We are Craiton, a small test company founded by two ex-Microsoft guys with a passion for quality.

We are passionate about helping people to improve the quality of their Windows products, both hardware and software. Our goal is to help companies pass WHQL testing and achieve Windows Logo Certification or simply get their drivers signed.

Windows Logo testing is often complex and full with pitfalls. Many people don’t even know how to get started. We’ve got a lot of experience with testing and know the process inside out. Our testing and consulting services will make you more productive and reduce your time to market.

We try to keep our services personal and tuned to your needs. After every project, we make sure the customer is 100% happy with our deliverables. We can confidently say that we have happy customers in over 40 countries.

We have two locations, one in The Netherlands and one in Sweden. This grew historically because one of us moved to another location in 2001. (We value quality of life as an important quality too!) Both our labs are equivalent in capacity and capability. Working at a distance has helped us to create a more robust and agile company with efficient processes and great tools. This efficiency comes to you in the form of reduced cost for our services.

Here are some points that we value:

We know you are in a hurry and have short deadlines. In everything we do, we’ll try to make sure you can keep your deadlines and get your product to market as soon as possible.

Obviously we value quality, quality in your products and in our services. In order to truly value quality we are letting it “seep” through the entire company. We don’t cut corners and you won’t find us using loopholes in the Windows Logo Program. They’re there, but they’ll come back to bite you and we won’t advise you to take advantage of them.

We try to make things simple for you. The process of testing and qualifying your product for the Windows Logo and subsequent submission and maintenance is complex enough. Craiton aims to be a one-stop shop where you get your questions answered.

We believe our services should be accessible to as many companies as possible, including those with a limited budget. That’s why we’ve now started a Freemium model. This means we always offer a (limited) free service where you can feel the water before you dive in.

When we take over your testing tasks, your employees will be able to focus on what they’re good at and become more effective. No doubt testing should be an integrated part of your development and ideally you have dedicated testing staff. In any case, we can help ease your test load and hopefully make your employees happier.

We are passionate about what we do and we hope this shows in everything, including our website, our communications and our service deliverables.

Whenever we make purchasing decisions or sign contracts, we make sure that our products and partners are as environmentally friendly as possible. A lot of electricity is used to run a lab and we try to get it from clean sources. Systems we use are using the latest technologies to reduce power usage. We use virtualization to reduce the number of physical systems and we prefer email over paper (that’s why you get your invoice as a PDF).

Our primary service is Windows Logo Testing, both for hardware and software. You’ll get everything you need to achieve the Windows Logo or a certified signed driver. We aim to be the most affordable test company in the world. In fact, we’re the only one with a Free Plan.

History

While we were at Microsoft back in the mid 90’s, we were already involved with the Windows Logo Program (“Designed for Windows”). We each took our sabbatical about a year apart. Fresh into the new millennium, we started Craiton with the simple concept to help customers navigate the extremely complex Logo Program where exceptions were the rule. Our concept hasn’t changed although the Logo Program has improved a lot. Nevertheless, the need for quality is greater than ever and we’re fully committed to helping you achieve the highest quality for your product.

About Us

Meet the founders:

Peter Bruinsma
With a strong passion for both software and hardware, Peter has experience with the Windows OS since version 2 when it still shipped together with Microsoft Excel. During the early years (Windows 3.0 time) device driver quality and stability of the Windows OS were the number one issue.

Peter is also keenly interested in usability, both of hardware and of software. When you send your product to Craiton, do not be surprised if you get some free advice regarding your product’s usability!

Remco Verheul
During the Microsoft years, Remco was customer-facing and dealt chiefly with OEMs. The knowledge he built up from their hardships and challenges was the seed for Craiton. Remco loves software as much as hardware and has been programming ever since 64KB RAM was the norm. Remco is continually polishing internal tools that help Craiton be efficient.
